BATHINDA: The court of judicial magistrate (first class) Gurdarshan Singh in Talwandi Sabo on Friday issued arrest warrants against two accused booked in the Maur twin bomb blasts case.

Police on February 9 had named Gurtej Singh Kala of Alika village near Dabwali in Haryana and Amrik Singh of Bhikhi in Mansa. The twin blasts took place on January 31, 2017, shortly after the rally of Congress candidate from Maur Harminder Singh Jassi, killing seven people.

Kala was in-charge of workshop of Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda where the Maruti Suzuki 800 car, used in the blasts, was allegedly modified, while Amrik reportedly was security guard of Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

Earlier, police had registered case against unidentified persons. The two accused were named in the case after four persons — Harpreet Singh and Sunil Kumar of Sirsa, Krishan Kumar Karnal and Harmel Singh of Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar district — were produced by police in Talwandi Sabo court on February 8 as witnesses. The four witnesses were working as fitters and painters in the dera workshop. Witnesses also named a third person who is yet to be named in the case for want of evidences.

Member of the special investigation team probing the case inspector Dalbir Singh said: “Police teams have been raiding different places in Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat to arrest the accused.”

Meanwhile, the Maur Bomb Blast Virodhi Sangharsh Committee has decided to hold protest in the town on March 5.
