Sidhu reviews arrangements for inauguration of 2nd phase
JALANDHAR: Local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday visited the Jang-e-Azadi memorial, the second phase of which will be inaugurated by chief minister Amarinder Singh on March 6.
Presiding over a high-level meeting to review the arrangements for the inauguration, the minister said that this historic event must be organised in an unsurpassed manner. Sidhu was accompanied by managing editor of Ajit group of newspapers Dr Barjinder Singh Hamdard.
“Elaborate arrangements would be made for making this event a memorable one. This memorial is a benefitting tribute to the great heroes of the national freedom struggle, who made supreme sacrifices for emancipating the country from the yoke of British imperialism,” said Sidhu.
Sidhu asked the deputy commissioner to coordinate with all the departments involved in organising this function to mark this historic occasion. “More such meetings will be held to ensure that the function was a huge success. Tourism and cultural affairs department of will make all the necessary arrangements for the event,” he added.
He said that March 6 will be a red letter day for the state as the second phase of the memorial showcasing the contribution of Punjabis in the freedom struggle would be dedicated to people. He also solicited the participation of the personalities from different walks of life viz religious, political and social in this event.
