Markfed starts its retail chain from Jalandhar

Markfed today opened a sale booth in District Administrative Complex, Jalandhar in order to boost 'Ghar Ghar Rozgar' scheme of Capt. Amrinder Singh, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Punjab. This booth was inaugurated by S. Amarjit Singh Samra, Chairman Markfed and S. Arshdeep Singh Thind, IAS M.D Markfed who handed over the allotment letter to Sh. Ravi Batla, an unemployed youth to run this booth.

While speaking on the occasion S. Amarjit Singh Samra stated that these booths will provide self employment to unemployed youth of the State under the 'Ghar Ghar Rozgar' initiative of the Punjab Govt. Markfed is producing a vast range of edible products which are marketed under Sohna brand, some of its products such as Haldi, Gur, Pulses, Aloevera & Amla Juices are outsourced directly from farmer co-operative thereby enabling them in marketing their products for better return. In addition Markfed has its own unit at Khanna and Jalandhar for producing Vanaspati, Refined Oils , Mustard Oil, Ready to Eat Canned Food etc. Earlier the focus has been on export of RTE products but keeping in view the increasing demand of these products in local market , Markfed has decided to extend its outreach, enabling the consumer to buy quality products at reasonable prices at their doorstep.

On this occasion S. Arshdeep Singh Thind, IAS M.D Markfed intimated that Markfed will open 400 booths out of which 110 booths will be opened in first phase during this year. These booths will increase the availability of Markfed Sohna quality products. He further stated that the products of Verka and Punjab Agro Industries will also be available on these booths.

On this occasion S. Pargat Singh, MLA, Sh. Jai Kishan Saini, Ex-Minister, S. Bhupinder Pal Singh, IAS Additional Dy. Commissioner ,Jalndhar, S. Paramvir Singh, IAS SDM, Jalandhar were present. S. A.S Sekhon, Executive Director, Markfed extended the vote of thanks to the guests.

While speaking on the occasion Sh. Bal Mukand Sharma, AMD (D) Markfed stated that as there is huge adulteration in food products across market these booths will help to provide a platform where quality products will be available to general public.
