ASI KILLED, TWO HURT AS CAR RAMS INTO BARRICADE

THE BARRICADE TOSSED IN THE AIR AND FELL ON THE VICTIMS, KILLING ASI MAHAVIR SINGH, 50, ON THE SPOT

HISAR: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was killed while another policeman and a villager got seriously injuries after a speeding unidentifi­ed car rammed into a police barricade at a check post near Musahibwal­a police check post in Sirsa on Saturday. The barricade tossed in the air and fell on the victims, killing ASI Mahavir Singh, 50, on the spot.

The car driver immediatel­y fled from the spot with the vehicle. Getting informatio­n of the accident, villagers rushed the injured to the Sirsa civil hospital, from where, they were referred to Agroha Medical College, Hisar. Mahavir’s body was sent for autopsy at a local general hospital in Sirsa.

Those injured were identified as constable Satpal Singh and Gurdev Singh of Musahibwal­a village.

Deputy superinten­dent of police (DSP), Sirsa, Ajay Sharma and Sadar station house officer (SHO) Vinod Kumar reached the spot with their teams and took details of the incident.

The DSP said, “In the wee hours on Saturday, a speeding car coming from Sirsa rammed into a barricade near Musahibwal­a village, killing ASI Mahavir on the spot and injuring two others.

A case under Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 336 (act endangerin­g life or personal safety of others), 337 (causing hurt by act endangerin­g life or personal safety of others) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against unidentifi­ed driver has been registered.

Police teams have been formed to nab the accused.”

According to informatio­n, villager Gurdev Singh had gone to meet the policemen when the accident took place.
