CHANDIGARH: Scoffing at the BJP’s much-publicised Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas model, All India Congress Committee (AICC) communication in-charge and former Haryana minister Randeep Surjewala on Saturday said the Manohar Lal Khattar government in Haryana was functioning on ‘Haryana Ka Vinash, Khud Ka Vikas’ model.

“The Khattar government has accepted in the 2018-19 budget, that the state’s debt increased to Rs 141,854 crore, which was only around Rs 60,000 crore in 2013-14 at the end of the 10-year rule of the Congress. The steep increase of over Rs 81, 000 crore in just over three years is quite alarming,’’ Surjewala said.

The Congress MLA also criticised the Khattar government for planning to raise Rs 1,000 crore additional revenue by selling government lands and properties in the next one year. Such a state government, which thinks of earning money by selling government properties has no right to stay in power even for a minute, he said.

Surjewala said the BJPs slogan of development for everyone is now confined to personal development of the BJP leadership only. Thus it is necessary to change this anti-people government from power, he said.

Referring to the spiraling debt in Haryana the state, Surjewala said the BJP government has brought the prosperous Haryana on the brink of bankruptcy. He said the people were fed up of Khattar government as it has failed to deliver on its prepoll promises.

He accused the BJP of dividing the people on caste and religious lines. “Haryanvis have always lived in harmony but the BJP was successful in its ulterior designs of dividing them by creating mutual distrust and religious frenzy.”
