Congress and AAP trying to defame SAD, says Sukhbir
FARIDKOT/CHANDIGARH: The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are trying to defame the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on the sacrilege incidents that rocked the state in 2015, said SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Addressing the “Poll Khol” rally at Kotkapura in Faridkot district on Saturday, Sukhbir said sacrilege incidents took place in the Congress regime too, but the AAP and Congress never raised the issue as they did during the Akali regime.
Terming the one-year rule of the Captain Amarinder Singh government disappointing, Sukhbir said the government failed to implement its pre-poll promises.
Speaking on the occasion, former revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia accused Amarinder of failing to fix the responsibility officials in illegal mining.
He said the SAD will raise the issue of farmer suicides in the upcoming budget session of the assembly.
JAKHAR HITS BACK OVER MINING
Meanwhile, in Chandigarh, Dismissing Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal’s allegations that Congress legislators are interfering in the functioning of the government and are involved in illegal sand mining, Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar on Saturday said it was a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.
He also rejected the charge that the officers were not under control of the CM, saying Amarinder was known for his administrative ability and efficiency and in providing better governance and he needed no lessons from someone like Sukhbir. Questioning the moral authority of the SAD president to accuse Congress MLAs of indulging in illegal mining, Jakhar said: “It is irony that the person who presided over the loot and robbery of the state resources for 10 years is now trying to shift blame.”
