1 lakh drug tablets, capsules seized in Tarn Taran, 1 held

TARNTARAN : The district police on Saturday claimed to have seized 1 lakh tablets, capsules, injections and vials of banned drugs after the arrest of a brother of an owner of a chemist shop at Narla village, around 5 km from the India-Pakistan border in the district, on Saturday.

The accused has been identified as Gurnam Singh of Van Tara Singh village while the other booked accused is his brother Rashpal Singh, who has been running a Buttar chemist shop in the area.

SSP Darshan Singh said a team, led by deputy superinten­dent of police (DSP), Bhikhiwind, Sulakhan Singh Mann, was patrolling in Narli village near the Khalra drain when they stopped a Maruti Suzuki Zen car for checking.

“The accused was driving the car. When the car was searched, the team found 6,1500 tablets of tramzan, 2,000 of microlit, 5,000 of subhimol, 8,800 of alprazolam, 4,800 of alprazole and 2,100 of teridol, 13,200 capsules of parvon spas, 2,000 injections without label and 216 vials from the car,” said the SSP.

He said the accused told the police that his brother, another accused, Rashpal Singh, owns a chemist shop in the area and they had been selling the drugs to drug addicts of the area. “Raids are being conducted to arrest Rashpal Singh,” he said.

He said a case under section 21-61-85 of NDPS Act had also been registered against the duo brothers at Khalra police station.

3 ROBBERS HELD IN GURDASPUR

GURDASPUR: The police on Saturday claimed to have arrested all the three absconding members of the six-member gang of robbers that was busted by them on February 22 with the arrest of three of its members.

The absconding members arrested on Saturday included Rocky alias Rohila,his brother Sajan, both residents of Gali No 1, Chhota Haripura Islamabad,Amritsar, and Pehalwan of Batala.
