KARNAL: Hundreds of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) activists on Saturday continued their indefinite dharna outside the residence of Radaur MLA Shyam Rana in protest against impounding of 40 tractor-trailers and registration of an FIR against 150 farmers for blocking a road at Radaur in Yamunanagar on February 23.

The protesters rejected Rana’s request to end the protest and get their tractors back after following the legal procedure. They said that they will not go the court and their tractors should be returned without any paper work.

Led by BKU state president Gurnam Singh Chaduni, the farmers have started a door-todoor campaign against the MLA and the ruling BJP in Haryana, appealing people not to vote for the saffron party in the next elections.

The protesters are also getting support of the leaders of opposition parties.

They said the protest will continue till the police withdraw cases against the farmers and return their tractors without any paper work.

“The police lathicharged farmers and impounded their tractors. Now, the FIRs are being registered against farmers who were protesting peacefully,” BKU state president Gurnam Singh Chaduni said.

He said the government must ensure return of their tractortrailers without any condition.

The Yamunanagar police had registered an FIR against 150 farmers under various sections of IPC including 307 (attempt to murder) and 120 B. They had also arrested 35 farmers. Later after protests by the farmers, the police removed Section 307 from the FIR and the arrested farmers were released on bail, but their tractor-trailers are still parked at Radaur police station.
