ROHTAK : Skeletal remains were found at a paint factory in Sonepat that was engulfed by fire on Sunday due to alleged short circuit. Initial investigation suggests that the one of the human remains found belong to an adult. However, it could not be ascertained whether the other skeletal remains belong to two children or an adult. The police said accurate revelation can be made only after the postmortem of the remains.

“One charred body was found but it is not clear whether the other skeletal remains are of an adult or two children,” inspector Rishikant, Rai SHO said.

A paint factory built in three plots at the industrial area in Rai block of the district caught fire early morning. It took over 10 fire brigades several hours to douse the flames.

Nine labourers were injured, out of which, three suffered over 70% burns, police said. All of them have been admitted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) Rohtak. Unidentified skeletal remains of at least two were found while many other labourers jumped from the terrace to save their lives, police said.

Some labourers hailing from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar lived with their families at the factory premises. The factory belongs to an unnamed owner from Delhi, police said, adding that a case of negligence has been registered against factory officials.
