Protesters vent out anger at BJP’s Radaur MLA
BJP MLA from Radaur Shyam Singh Rana is facing the ire of the farmers who are agitated over the lathicharge, registration of an FIR and impounding of their tractor-trailers on February 23.
The protesting farmers stopped and confronted Rana during his visits to various villages of his constituency over the past one week.
Rana faced protests in several villages, including Mansurpur, Dhanupura, Silikalan, Amloha, Bubka, Ratangarh Majra and Chamrori villages. In several videos being circulated on the social media, farmers were seen raising antiBJP slogans and accusing Rana of letting the police lathicharge them at Radaur, when they were going to join farmers’ protest in Delhi on February 23.
The farmers were also seen asking the MLA why he did not talk to the authorities to return their impounded tractor trailers. The first-time MLA assured the protesting farmers that he had already taken up their issue in the state assembly during the budget session.
“The farmers, who were going to join a protest for their demands, were beaten up by the police, their tractors impounded and an FIR was registered. Our question to our MLA is why this happened only in his constituency of Radaur, whereas the farmers were protesting in all 90 assemblysegments of the state”, said Sandeep Topra, a farmer leader.
