16yearold girl killed, two injured; police on lookout for the truck driver

GURGAON: A 16-year-old girl was killed and her aunt and uncle were severely injured after a truck ran them over near Bhora Kalan village on Saturday morning. Bystanders were able to note the truck’s registrati­on number, which they have given to the police.

The deceased has been identified as Jyoti, a resident of Bhora Kalan village.

According to the police, the incident took place around 11am on Saturday near a petrol pump, where Jyoti, her uncle Mahender Singh and aunt were standing, when a truck hit them, and sped past.

According to the eyewitness­es, it seemed that the truck driver momentaril­y lost control of the vehicle which resulted in the accident.

The three were rushed to a nearby hospital where Jyoti was declared dead, while Mahender and his wife are being treated for injuries to their limbs.

“Based on the registrati­on number, we have been able to identify the vehicle owner, who is a resident of Beri, in Jhajjar district. Investigat­ions are ongoing to trace the accused,” Hawa Singh, investigat­ing officer in the case, said.

A case of rash driving, causing death by negligence and causing hurt by act endangerin­g life has been registered against unidentifi­ed accused under Sections 279, 304 A and 337 of the IPC respective­ly at the Bilaspur police station.
