THE FREEDOM TO REALISE ONESELF ENABLES US TO JUDGE, RESPECT OTHERS

We all love freedom, and wars have been fought and are being fought for freedom. The basic idea behind freedom is that it lets you be in what you are, and allows you to do or not do as per your wishes and aspirations. A table-top calendar in my study room reminds me: “I love myself for who I am, free from others’ influence. And I love others for what they are, free from my perspectives.”

Being left alone to yourself gives you several advantages. It helps you develop our own personality to come forward, it makes you feel good and responsible, it makes you look into yourself deeply and understand yourself. Looking deep into yourself makes you judge your own worth, and a person who knows his worth is a person who is full of humility and respect for others.

Therefore, freedom at an individual level becomes a necessary instrument towards self-realisation. The beauty of self-realisation is that only such persons can realise the truth in others and their importance in our society. In other words, this helps us work towards building up of a team in order to lead our society towards progress and prosperity. As the word ‘freedom’ itself denotes, it inspires us to be free and work in an atmosphere of cordiality and cooperation with others around us. It denotes that we are ‘social animals’ working together and yet retaining our freedom to think and choose.
