CHANDIGARH: A local court sent one of the eight accused Anil Kumar, working as an assistant in the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC), in the cash-for-job scam case to two more days’ remand, and the remaining seven accused to judicial custody.

They were presented before the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Rohit Watts after the four-day police remand following their arrest by the Haryana chief minister’s flying squad on April 5 last. The remaining seven sent to judicial custody were four HSSC employees — Puneet Saini (hired on contractual basis in IT cell), Rohtas Kumar, Sukhwinder Singh (all assistants) and Subhash Sharma (superintendent) — and three others namely Balwan Singh, an employee of HUDA, Surender Singh of the irrigation department and one Dharmender Singh, a resident of Panchkula, who runs a business of providing manpower.

‘ACCUSED BLUFFED OVER SOURCES IN SELECTION BOARD’

Meanwhile, the superintendent of police, CM flying squad, Dheeraj Setia said the interrogation of the accused so far had not yielded any information pertaining to involvement of any member of the HSSC. “It appears that the accused only bluffed the candidates who already had scored well, about their sources in the selection board despite having none,” he said.

Setia agreed that though there was a mention of a “member” in the conversations of the accused, there was no evidence of any such talks between any of the accused with any of the 10 members of the HSSC. Setia said that the investigating team had so far recovered 12 cell phones, four laptops, three CPUs and six hard discs from the accused and further scanning of the same was one.
