Former armyman kills village chief in Gurugram, arrested

GURUGRAM: The Kasan village chief was killed on Thursday by former army commando and his two brothers in the Manesar village over a financial dispute. The accused allegedly fired eight shots at the deceased.

The police have arrested the prime accused, and have detained his brothers; all of them are from Kasan and belong to the same community as the deceased.

The victim, identified as Bahadur Singh Chauhan, was working at his dairy in Kasan village of Manesar when the three assailants shot at him, which resulted in fatal injuries. Chauhan was taken to the nearby Rockland Hospital where he succumbed to his injury, police said.

The accused have been identified as Sunder Singh Fauji, Yashpal Master and Rampal alias Ramu. The police have arrested the prime accused, Sunder Singh Fauji who is a former armyman, on charges of murder, and detained his brothers. Fauji was in Rajputana Rifles, a regiment of the Indian army, and had also served with the National Security Guard in Manesar as a commando on deputation.

“The two brothers have been detained and are being questioned on their role in the crime,” ACP (Manesar) Dharambir Singh said.

Police have registered a case of murder at the IMT, Manesar, police station under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act, based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s nephew, who is also an eyewitness.

Fauji allegedly murdered Chauhan over a financial dispute.
