Khattar govt’s nod to slum-in-situ rehabilita­tion policy

CHANDIGARH : The Haryana government has approved the slumin-situ rehabilita­tion policy under Housing For All-2018 scheme so as to provide housing facility to slum dwellers without relocating them to other areas.

An official release on Thursday said on Thursday that Rs 1.67 lakh per dwelling unit would be provided to developer for constructi­on of houses for the slum dwellers.

The carpet area prescripti­on of 30 square metre would be substitute­d with 50 square metre, it added.

The slums which are spread horizontal­ly on the government land would be accumulate­d partially by means of group housing or flats and the area left after providing housing accommodat­ion to the slum dwellers would be given as free sale component to cross-subsidise the developers.

In case of municipal corporatio­n (MC), Gurugram and Faridabad, the beneficiar­ies would have to pay Rs 1 lakh per dwelling unit or flat in 24 monthly instalment­s.

This amount would be Rs 75,000 per dwelling unit in case of municipal corporatio­n other than the two cities named above.

Similarly, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 per dwelling unit would have to be paid by the beneficiar­ies in case of all the municipal councils and municipal committees respective­ly, the release said.

The lock-in period of allotted flat or dwelling unit under the scheme would be for 10 years, it added.
