CM attempts to pacify Dalits, says panel to probe violence
KARNAL: In the wake of the Haryana government’s criticism over the use of police force during the statewide protests by Dalits on April 2, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday said the government has decided to constitute a three-member committee to probe into the violence on that day.
The CM said that the committee will review all cases registered by the police. “If any evidence is found, action will be taken against the culprits and if there is no evidence against anybody, they will be released.”
The committee will comprise an IAS officer, an IPS officer and a public representative, he said while addressing the a large gathering at function organised
“A section of society was demonstrating peacefully in the state when some anti-social elements infiltrated and tried to disturb the law and order situation,” Khattar said.
He also said the state government would soon constitute the Haryana Scheduled Castes Commission and advertise for all posts meant for scheduled castes (SCs) at one go to ensure clearance of the backlog.
Besides, efforts would be made to ensure that these vacancies are filled on a regular basis, the CM said.
He urged people to provide best education to their children so that they could take benefit of these vacancies. About 38,000 group D posts would be advertised within a month and recruitment would be carried out purely on merit basis.
He said several welfare schemes are being launched in the state for the scheduled castes and backward classes and financial assistance under the Mukhyamantri Vivah Shagun Yojna has been increased to Rs 51,000.
Earlier, the chief minister inaugurated seven Antyodaya Bhawans in Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Jind, Yamunanagar, Faridabad and Gurugram for dissemination of information about government welfare schemes. He also inaugurated Bharat Nirman Sewa Knedra and E-Disha Kendra of Ladwa sub-division.
