A war of words has erupted between Haryana health minister Anil Vij and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) MP from Hisar Dushyant Chautala after Vij termed the latter a “drug addict” for his allegations pertaining to a “scam” in state health department.

Dushyant had also sent a legal notice for defamation to Vij.

“How can there be a scam of Rs 300 crore in medicine purchase in the health department while the total purchase has been worth about Rs 40 crore. I think he too has started taking drugs and he should go to a rehabilitation centre for treatment,” Vij had said a few days ago.

Dushyant sought unconditional apology from Vij for maligning his reputation and sent him a legal notice for defamation. He also called Vij “sadak chhap” for his spat with a woman IPS officer at a meeting about three years ago.

On Saturday, Vij also sent a legal notice for defamation to Dushyant and said on his personal Twitter handle: “Legal notice for defamation sent to Dushyant Chautala MP Hisar for defaming Health Deptt, Haryana, of a scam of 300 cr whereas total purchase is only of 40.86 cr’’.

Vij held the state government had also decided to get the alleged irregularities in the purchase of medicines probed by principal accountant general, Haryana.
