DEFENCE DEMANDS CD, WHICH IS LEARNT TO HAVE PHONE CONVERSATIONS OF SEVERAL ACCUSED

PANCHKULA: The framing of charges against Honeypreet and 24 other Dera Sacha Sauda members in connection with Panchkula violence case were yet again deferred in a local court on Thursday.

The arguments could not be held as the defence raised the issue of absence of compact disc (CD) in the chargesheet, which is learnt to have phone conversations of several accused arrested.

While the prosecution argued that the transcript of the conversation is attached in the chargesheet, the defence wanted the CD to be given to them before resuming the arguments so that they could check the relevance of the conversations from the original source, not from transcript provided by the police.

Defence counsel SK Rohilla Court told media that the court has directed the prosecution to supply the copy of CD to the defence counsel as they have the right to get the copy under Section 207 of CrPC.

He said that another reason why arguments could not take place was that the supplementary chargesheet against seven recently arrested accused has yet not been submitted to the sessions court.

Police have charged Honeypreet, “adopted daughter” of rape convict dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), two sedition charges — Section 121 (waging or attempting to wage war, or abetting waging of war, against government) and 121-A (conspiracy to commit offences), besides 150 (conniving with persons to join unlawful assembly) and 153 (provocation with intent to cause riots) of the Indian Penal Code.
