8 killed, 2 hurt in two road mishaps in HP
SHIMLA: Eight people were killed while two others were injured in two separate road accidents in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday.
In the first incident, six people were killed after the Bolero jeep, they were travelling in, rolled down a 200-metre gorge at Ranawi village in Shimla’s Chaupal.
The deceased were identified as Sunil, 32, Rajinder Gajta, 58, Kalawati, 47, Shanta Devi, 55, Devi Singh, 65, and Kalpna, 45.
The injured, Paras, 23, and driver Arun, 36, were admitted at a local hospital.
Shimla additional superintendent of police (SP) Praveer Thakur said, “A vehicle bearing registration number HP08- 0635 skidded off road in Chaupal in which six people have been killed. The cause of the incident is yet to be

ascertained.”
However, the locals said the road is quite congested and it was difficult to negotiate curves for over speeding vehicles.
Meanwhile, in the second incident two people were killed in Banjar of Kullu district after the car, they were travelling in, rolled down the road near Childhar village.
The deceased were identified as Kamlesh Kumar, 27, and Yaan Singh, 25.
Kullu SP Shalini Agnihotri said, “The main cause behind the accident is yet to be ascertained, however, it seems that the vehicle was over speeding.”
