NUH: Police are suspecting that there was a fight among the seven accused who allegedly gang-raped a 17-yearold girl in Nuh, who later committed suicide. They are also probing if she knew one of the accused.

“The matter is being probed from all angles and the call details of the victim and other accused would be analysed along with the dump data to know who was at the spot when the incident happened,” said an official , who asked not to be named as he is not authorised to speak to the media.

Two groups of men allegedly abducted a 17-year-old girl from her village in Rojka Meo police station on the intervening night of Sunday (April 29) and Monday (April 30) and later raped her, the police said.

Police said they are probing whether the girl knew one of the accused, who might have called her out of the house before allegedly abducting her.

The girl was found lying unconscious around 1.5 km from her village with injuries. Parts of two bikes were also found lying at the spot, which indicates an accident, the police said. She committed suicide at her house on Tuesday in a village of Nuh district.

According to the police, the autopsy report confirmed that the victim died by hanging. But gang rape could only be confirmed only after forensic tests, for which samples have been sent to Madhuban forensic lab. “The report will establish how many persons were involved in the incident. Raids are being conducted to arrest all the accused. We are questioning their relatives,” ASI Rajpal, who is conducting the probe, said.

The official said that two persons, who are also believed to have been involved in the incident, are being questioned.

IN SHOCK

“My daughter was shocked, shamed and in immense pain when she was brought back. We did not ask her any questions and let her sit inside the room. Before taking her own life, she mentioned the names of the two accused and how they had abused her,” the victim’s father said.

The victim was a budding athlete and also a good student who had won several prizes in interschool athletics competitions.

Her relatives said that she was a talented girl, who wanted to become an officer and do something for her siblings so that they could also fulfil their ambitions.

“I was planning to get her admitted to a college and ensure that she charts a successful career,” the father said.
