Israel President praises Khattar for agri push
CHANDIGARH:Haryana chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar called on the President of Israel, Reuven Rivlin, at his residence in Jerusalem, on Wednesday.
Rivlin accorded Khattar a warm welcome, saying that he had rushed from a TV interview to meet him, a government spokesperson said.
Recalling his November 2017 visit to Gharounda in Haryana, the President patted the back of the CM, saying that Haryana was doing a ‘wonderful job’ in every field of development, right from agriculture to industry.
Khattar told Rivlin that three centres of excellence were running in Haryana with the support of Israel, and Gharaunda was one such centre for vegetables and bee keeping. The other two are located at Ramnagar in Kurukshrtra district and at Mangyana in Sirsa district. Two more centres have been planned, one for animal husbandry in Hisar, and another for floriculture in Jhajjar.
The President appreciated the chief minister for taking active interest and making efforts towards bettering the lives and economic lot of the farmers in Haryana. He applauded the contribution of Haryana to the Indian armed forces as well as to the central pool of foodgrains, the spokesperson said.
POND PROBLEM: ISRAEL TO LEND HELPING HAND
Tahal group of Israel, which has expertise in waste water management, will send a team of experts to Haryana to help find solutions to issues, such as rehabilitation of overflowing 8,000 ponds in villages in Haryana, waste water recycling and its use for irrigation.
A government spokesperson said the offer came during talks between chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar and CEO and other top officials of Tahal Group in Tel Aviv on Wednesday.
A pioneer company in the field of waste water management, micro irrigation and infrastructure, Tahal Group also has its headquarters in Gurugram, and is executing mega projects across India.
The spokesperson said Tahal experts will visit various departments and also guide the Haryana government on master planning for water management. Tahal has been working in India for more than 20 years. Totally managed by Indians, Tahal in India works on projects related to climate change, food security, clean water, clean energy and sustainable development and is offering consultancy on many projects. The group has already offered consultancy on a drinking water project in Jharkhand; drinking water pipeline project in Karnataka; lift irrigation project in MP; drinking water project in Bengaluru and gas pipeline project from Rajasthan to Panipat.
