Man arrested for raping minor girl in Panipat, victim pregnant

KARNAL: A 34-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in Kaptan Nagar area of Panipat city, police said on Friday.

They said the victim lives with her uncle near the house of the accused and she is now pregnant. The accused has been identified as Inderjit Singh, a city-based property adviser. He is unmarried and lives with his parents.

He has been booked under relevant sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, said Panipat Qila police station in-charge Narender Singh. Police said the accused had been raping her for the past six months, but she did not disclose the matter to her family members as he had allegedly threatened her.

When she got pregnant, she disclosed this to her family members and she was taken to the police station to file a complaint against the accused. The SHO said that girl was examined medically and she was found pregnant. He said the accused was produced in a court, which remanded him in judicial custody.

YOUTH HELD FOR RAPING MENTALLY CHALLENGED GIRL

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly raped by a 22-year-old youth in Khajuri village of Yamunanaga­r district.

The district police have arrested the accused, who has been identified as Satbir Singh, a resident of the same village. As per the complaint filed by mother of the girl, the girl was alone at her residence on Thursday when the accused stormed into their house and raped her. Soon after the incident, her aunt reached the house and found the girl in an unconsciou­s state.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Jathlana police station in-charge Didar Singh said police arrested the accused and booked hin under Section 376 of the IPC. He said he was produced in a local court, which sent him to judicial custody.
