315 women constables pass out to join BSF

descendent of Bharat Ratna, Madan Mohan Malaviya, a sister of a martyr and a chemistry post- graduate were among the 315 women constables, who passed out from the Border Security Force (BSF) training camp in Kharkan on Saturday, taking an oath to make any sacrifice for the nation. To boost their morale, BSF director general K K Sharma and other senior officials attended the ceremony.The pass-out of two batches has taken the strength of BSF women constables to 3,064.

After the oath-taking ceremony, meritoriou­s recruits were awarded medals for their performanc­e during the training. They hail from the states of Bihar, West Bengal, Tripura, Karnataka, Mizoram, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, Odisha, Assam and Nagaland. They were imparted 44-week rigorous training during which they were skilled in operating weapons, patrolling the borders, warfare tactics and to respond during natural calamities among others, said inspector general of police PS Bains.

Constable Rachana Parmar and Monu Lovanshi were adjudged as overall best recruits in the batch number 244 W and 245 C.The DG took salute from the passing out parade, which was led by the best in drill constable Sweta Kumari. Addressing the pass-outs, the DG said it was a proud moment for all of them as they were embarking on the noble journey of defending the nation. “This has proved that the women do not lag behind men in any field,” the DG further said.

BSF’s ‘Seema Bhawani’ motorcycle team enthralled the audience with daredevil acts. The DG also presented police medals for meritoriou­s service on 10 ex-servicemen.
