Manish of Mehs village in Nabha was attacked by dogs when he went to answer call of nature in a field ; he died at GMCH32, Chandigarh, on Sunday
Five days after a fiveyear-old girl was mauled to death by stray dogs at Bhindra village of Sangrur, a seven-yearold boy lost his life on Sunday after a canine attack at Mehs village of Nabha in Patiala district.
Victim Manish was attacked by a pack of stray dogs on Saturday and he succumbed to his injuries at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, in Chandigarh in the wee hours of Sunday.
The incident occurred when victim’s parents were moulding clay into bricks at a kiln in the village on Saturday afternoon. Manish, who was playing around, went to the fields to answer the call of nature. In Amritsar, a 65-year-old man died after a stray bull attacked him in a locality near the Lohgarh gate . The victim has been identified as Parveen Mehra of Gali Bagichi Wali area.

The incident occurred when victim’s parents were moulding clay into bricks at a kiln in the village on Saturday afternoon. Manish, who was playing around, went to the fields to answer the call of nature. After a few minutes, two labourers saw the child being mauled by dogs.
Vicitm’s father Ram Babu said the child was dragged badly by the dogs into the muddy fields nearby. He was later rushed to the Rajindra hospital, Patiala.
“The doctors at the Rajindra hospital referred him to Chandigarh and the boy succumbed to injuries around 3 am at GMCH-32 on Sunday,” said Krishan Singla, owner of the Shree Krishna brick industries, where parents of Munish work.
Nabha SDM Jashanpreet Kaur said she has called a meeting with senior medical officer and block development and panchayat officer on Monday to decide the steps to tackle the stray dog menace. Village panchayat member Puran Singh said the government should construct dog houses for stray dogs.
