Khattar: One former CM already in jail, another set to follow him
Khattar says during the threeandahalf years of his govt, there have been no allegations of corruption against any minister or party legislator
Haryana chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar launched a veiled attack on his predecessor Bhupinder Singh Hooda and said that while one former chief minister was cooling his heels in jail, another ex-chief minister is set to follow suit and go to jail. The CM, however, did not take names while making the statement.
Speaking at a function organised to mark Maharana Pratap Jayanti at Safidon in Jind district on Sunday, the CM said that since the inception of the state of Haryana, numerous governments have been formed but none could claim their hands clean from corruption.
Drawing a sharp contrast, he said that during the three-and-ahalf years of his government, there have been no allegations of any scandals against any minister or BJP MLA.
“I can confidently say that the present government has uplifted the living standards of people and made efforts to change the direction of the society for the better. Changing the direction of this society is our main aim as we believe ‘Haryana Ek- Haryanvi Ek’,” he said.
‘PEOPLE TO DECIDE WHO IS PRO-FARMER’
Earlier, addressing a gathering at Munak in Karnal, Khattar also slammed former state CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda for not making any efforts to implement Swaminathan Commission’s report saying, “Making efforts for Swaminathan Commission was the responsibility of Hooda, who remained chairman of the working group of chief ministers on agriculture production but he did nothing for this long pending demand of the people.”
He added that the present BJP government has taken several initiatives to protect the interests of the farmers. Khattar also slammed the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leadership in the state for “politicising the issue of SYL canal”. “They (INLD leaders) did nothing for the SYL canal during their rule and now they are launching Jail Bharo Andolan as the Supreme Court has already announced the judgment in Haryana’s favour.” he said. He reiterated that Haryana will get its share in the SYL canal.
“Let the people decide, who is pro-farmer,” Khattar said.
PLAYS GILLI-DANDA IN KURUKSHETRA
In the morning during a Raahgiri programme in Kurukshetra, Khattar urged the people of the state to observe Sunday as no-criticism day in Kurukshetra.
He also inaugurated the Raahgiri programme and tried his hand at gilli-danda, tug of war, hockey, boxing and malkhambh.
The CM also flagged off a three-km fun run. Calling Sunday as ‘Funday’, he said F stands for forgiveness, U for untying oneself and N for no-criticism and asked the people to observe the idea at least one day a week. He asked the people to stay positive and shun negativity in life.
On his way to Safidon in Jind district, the CM stopped at Nara village of Panipat district and asked the people about the working of his government. The villagers told the chief minister that they are constructing a building of Dadi Sati Bhawan and the CM announced a grant of ₹11 lakh to the village for the building.
