Man who threw oil-like liquid at Khattar sent to judicial remand

HISAR : Showing remorse for his action, Parveen Kumar, 29, who threw an oil-like liquid on chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar on May 17 ahead of a roadshow, apologised to the CM.

Kumar, a resident of Jakhod Khera village in the Adampur assembly, also asked his family to meet the CM with other villagers and apologise for his action.

Parveen was produced before a local court in Hisar after oneday police remand on Saturday, which remanded him to 14-day judicial custody.

Kumar, a graduate, told mediaperso­ns on Saturday that he was upset over a divorce case of his sister and had come to know that some BJP leader helped his brother-in-law in the case, which irked him. At the civil hospital during medical examinatio­n, he said, “CM Khattar is a humble man. I want to apologise to him for my act.”

Sources at the police department said Parveen entered the Devi Bhawan Temple around 4pm on May 17 and crossed the security along with a crowd of women. He stood near the temple’s door waited for the CM to come, the sources said.

During investigat­ion, his political affiliatio­n was questioned and it was revealed that Parveen’s family members are supporters of former CM Bhajan Lal and his son Kuldeep Bishnoi. But Parveen was impressed with INLD leaders, even though he was not an active member of the party.

Police spokespers­on Chander Bhan said, “A case under section 353 (assault of criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (voluntaril­y causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 186 (obstructin­g public servant in discharge of public functions), 336 (act endangerin­g life or personal safety of others), 355 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonor person) was registered against Parveen Kumar. The accused was produced before the court of chief judicial magistrate Nidhi Bansal after one-day police remand. He was remanded to 14-day judicial custody on Saturday.”
