Aditya Insan declared PO, bounty increased
PANCHKULA:A local court declared Dera Sacha Sauda chief spokesperson Aditya Insan as proclaimed offender (PO) on Monday, nine months after the police failed to arrest him for his role in inciting violence that broke out in Panchkula on August 25 last year, during dera chief Ram Rahim’s conviction in the 2002 rape cases.
“Aditya Insan has been declared a PO by the court of chief judicial magistrate Rohit Vats,” Panchkula police commissioner AS Chawla confirmed. Aditya Insan has gone into isolation which made it difficult to arrest him, Chawla said.
Aditya Insan, along with Honeypreet, topped the most wanted list of the Haryana Police. Unable to arrest Aditya Insan for his involvement in Panchkula violence, the police had moved an application in the local court in February to declare him a PO. The police could not arrest Aditya even after getting three arrest warrants against him.
Aditya was seen inciting crowd to go after security forces during the violence. The bespectacled ophthalmologist has been the most visible face of Dera Sacha Sauda for the last 20 years, appearing on television debates to defend Ram Rahim.
As per the police, Aditya was the prime conspirator along with Honeypreet in triggering the violence in Panchkula on August 25 following the conviction of Gurmeet Ram Rahim. While Honeypreet is behind bars, police are still struggling to arrest the absconding Aditya and have even increased the bounty offered on him from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh.
Also on Monday, the Panchkula police released a video of the accused of the violence and the reward money on them, to widen the horizon of the probe. HTC
