DGP asks police chiefs, SPs to be extra vigilant
CHANDIGARH: The director general of police (DGP), Haryana, BS Sandhu directed all commissioners of police (CPs) and district superintendents of police (SPs) on Friday, to remain extra vigilant for maintaining law and order on Saturday and ensure smooth traffic flow and security to public in view of the call for a Jat Mahasabha at Jassia in Rohtak and the ongoing ‘Gaon Bandh’ protest of Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh on Saturday.
The DGP said the state police was prepared to deal with any situation and adequate arrangements have been made to maintain law and order. “Nobody would be allowed to take law in their hands and strict action would be taken against those who try to disrupt peace or indulge in arson, violence or damage to life or property. No blockade of traffic on railway tracks or national and state highways will be allowed,” he said.
He said the policemen have been asked to maintain close coordination with DCs and other officials for appointment of duty magistrates as well as promulgation of prohibitory orders. Apart from this, all police officers would maintain close coordination with railways, RPF and NHAI to prevent any untoward incident.
The DGP said maximum force has been mobilised for preventive deployment and law and order duty. Water cannons, cranes, ‘vajras’ (anti-riot vehicles) and ambulances will also be put in place, along with video cameras and drones.
If necessary, route diversion for heavy vehicles would be worked out, Sandhu said. In addition to deployment of police force at toll plazas and fuel stations on heavy routes, health authorities may be approached for mobile hospitals and ambulances on routes. Security would be provided at vital installations including power generation and no disruption of oil supply from refineries would be allowed, he added.
