Sharpshoot­ers who jumped parole held in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: Two sharpshoot­ers who jumped parole in 2010 were arrested by a team of the Haryana police’s special task force (STF) on Wednesday.

The police said there was a reward of Rs2 lakh for informatio­n leading to the arrest of the duo. The police recovered two fully loaded 9mm pistols, of Italian and American make, worth Rs10 lakh, from their possession.

Rajiv, alias Bobby Sharma (40), and his close aide Sumit Kumar (41) were arrested on Wednesday morning from Rajendra Park area. According to the police, the two of them have been involved in more than 20 cases of murder, attempt to murder, loot, dacoity, carjacking, extortion and kidnapping.

The police said both are members of a Haryana-based gang, which is led by alleged gangster Ashok Pradhan. Both of them are convicts on life-term sentences.

According to the investigat­ing official, they were allegedly planning to steal a car from Rajendra Park area on Tuesday to kidnap a businessma­n from Kurukshetr­a. The police said they wanted a car to do a recce of the area and identify the target.

They had also informed other gang members to meet them in Karnal on Wednesday. “Bobby wanted to form his gang in Gurugram and was looking for youth from nearby villages to start their operations in the city, beginning with carjacking and dacoity,” Sonu Malik, inspector, STF Bahadurgar­h, said.
