Tarn Taran armyman blackmaile­d by two women, FIR filed

TARN TARAN : A 28-year-old army man was allegedly blackmaile­d and robbed by seven people, including two women, at Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar here on Tuesday.

The accused have been identified as Veera Sharma, Sandeep Kaur, Baljeet Singh, Simran, Lalit Kumar and Munish Kumar.

In his complaint to the police, victim Harpal Singh of Thatha village said, around 11 am when he was on way to his village on a scooter, he met one of his acquaintan­ces Palwinder Singh near the Bohri Chowk.

LOCKED IN HOUSE BY ACCUSED

He said, “When I was talking to Palwinder, one of the accused Veera Sharma, whom Palwinder said he knew her, reached there and asked me for a lift up to the Amritsar bypass. On Palwainder’s insistence, I agreed to give her a lift. However, when I reached the bypass, the woman requested me to drop her at her house at Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar.”

He said when he reached outside her house, she asked him to come inside and have water.

“When I entered her house. About 10-12 men and 2-3 women also entered the house and locked me inside. Veera Sharma then appeared with a sharpedged weapon in her hand and demanded ₹lakh from me if I want to be safe,” he alleged.

The complainan­t said then other accused also started thrashing him saying if he did not give them the money, they will make his video with another woman Sandeep Kaur and make it public.

He said then the accused took away ₹6,500, his Aadhar card and army I-card from his pocket. Then they allowed him come out of the house.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Vipan Kumar said a case under Section 392 (punishment for robbery), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinemen­t), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidati­on), 120 B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused. ASI Kumar said the accused will be arrested soon.
