Co-accused on the run arrested

GURDASPUR : Rahul Sharma alias Nannu, 18, of Behrampur village, co-accused in the murder of an ex-serviceman, Daljit Singh, 65, was arrested from Jafarpur village near here on Wednesday. He had been absconding since the crime on Sunday.

Maninder Kaur ,25, had allegedly killed her father-in-law Daljit Singh in connivance with her lover Nannu at her house at Kothe Ghurala Colony near here.

Dajit Singh used to object to their illicit relations and they killed him using with sharpedged weapon and a 'lathi'. Maninder Kaur has already been arrested.

Maninder Kaur,with her 5-year-old daughter and 3-yearold son lived with her father-inlaw in the Kothe Ghurala Colony near here. Her husband Onkar Singh ,35, serves in the Engineering Regiment and is posted at Nagrota in Jammu & Kashmir.

Onkar Singh had left his house to join his duty two days ago after enjoying a ten-day leave when his father was murdered.

The police investigations revealed that Nannu frequently visited Maninder Kaur's house and victim Daljit Singh had time and again advised his daughter-in-law to avoid meeting her lover.

Nannu is an adopted son of a woman sub-inspector of Punjab Police Sneh Lata posted at Mukerian in Hoshiarpur district.

Both the accused have confessed to having killed Daljit Singh, said Gurdaspur senior superintendent of police (SSP) Harcharan Singh Bhullar.
