NEWDELHI:A 20-year-old man was shot at by a man in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri late on Monday night in what police suspect to be case of road rage.

The victim, identified only by his first name Armaan, was shot in his thigh after he apparently entered into a verbal altercation with a scooterist on a road in T-Block of Mangolpuri on Monday.

The victim’s injury, however, was not life-threatening, the police said.

The suspect, and his associate, sped away on their scooter after the incident and were yet to be identified or nabbed more than almost 48 hours after the incident.

Police said they were scanning CCTV footage of the neighbourhood for clues to the identities of the accused.

Police said Armaan lives with his family in Mangolpuri’s Y-Block.

The incident took place when he was riding on his twowheeler with two of his friends near a discom’s office in Mangolpuri around 10.30pm on Monday. “Armaan found another two-wheeler, with two riders, repeatedly overtaking and intercepting his vehicle on the road. Initially, he ignored it taking it to be a mistake by the other rider. But when the other twowheeler started riding dangerously in front of him, Armaan called out to the other rider,” said an investigator, based on the victim’s claims.

The warning then apparently led to a full-blown argument during which the other rider allegedly pulled out a gun and shot at Armaan, who was hit in his thigh.
