NEW DELHI: BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary’s constant travelling seems to have irked the Committee of Administrators (CoA) as the Vinod Rai-led body has sought clarification for his trip to Bhutan along with an executive assistant.

In the letter, the CoA seeks clarification as to why the trip was taken. It has been learnt that KVP Rao, AGM (Cricket Operations) was asked to go with a curator.

It also mentions that over the past five-and-a-half months, the acting secretary has travelled for 110 days, including 32 days of foreign travel.

The CoA is losing sleep over the fact that Chaudhary’s travel has cost BCCI ~52.76 lakh in this period.

In comparison, acting treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary, who has travelled for 69 days has cost ~27.9 lakh whereas acting president’s travel of 32 days has set the Board back by ~19.17 lakh. The officials get an allowance of US$750 (~51,000) per day each for foreign travel.

This is after expenses of hotel, car, air travel and food are taken care of.

The players, on the other hand, get $125 a day for foreign travel besides their match fees and annual salary.

For work within in India, the officials get ~30,000 a day as allowance, making even domestic travel much sought-after.

The letter asks, “Why was the approval of the CoA not taken prior to your visit to Bhutan along with your Executive Assistant when you have done so in the past?”
