12 sarpanches object to inclusion of their villages in MC limits

JALANDHAR: : Sarpanches of 12 villages of Jalandhar Cantonment have questioned MLA Pargat Singh’s move to get these villages included in the municipal limits. “We have raised objections on several occasions against the move and even met MLA Pargat Singh asking him to drop the plan, but still the state government, it is understood, is going ahead with its plan,” said Trilok Singh, sarpanch of Sofi Pind.

During a press conference here on Saturday, the village heads criticised Pargat Singh for going against their will for his vested interest. “Why only Pargat Singh is interested in including the villages of his segment under the MC? Why other MLAs of Jalandhar have not shown any interest in such a move? It’s just because Pargat Singh wants to benefit the property dealers in the area. Some of the villages proposed to be included under the MC limits are Subhana, Nangal Karar Kha, Sofi Pind, Khusro Pind, Aladin Pur, Deep Nagar, Khambra, Dhina and Sansarpur. The villages have over 25,000 voters. They threatened to move the Haryana high court against the move.
