KHAIRA SLAMS GOVT FOR NOT ARRESTING MAIN ACCUSED
RUPNAGAR: Leader of opposition in Punjab assembly Sukhpal Singh Khaira has slammed the state government and the police for not arresting two main accused of June 21 attack on Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) legislator from Rupnagar Amarjit Singh Sandoa.
Addressing a rally organised by AAP against the mining mafia at Rupnagar on Monday, Khaira said: “The police have failed to arrest the two accused. It proves that government was not inclined to give justice to Sandoa.”
He alleged that illegal mining was going on in the state without any check and the Congress government and its chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh had turned a blind eye towards it.
Khaira said the attack on Sandoa would not deter AAP workers from exposing the ‘wrongdoings’. Kharia said he will visit the same sand quarry with Sandoa and expose the Rupnagar administration that has been saying that no illegal mining is done there.
AAP state co-president Dr Balbir Singh said the party had started decisive battle against the mining mafia. “We will set up a helpline where anyone can give information about illegal mining and AAP workers would immediately visit the site,” he added.
SEEKS WHITE PAPER ON SACRILEGE PROBE
Khaira also demanded a white paper on investigations conducted into Bargari sacrilege incident and Maur Mandi bomb blast case. He said chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh and director general of police (DGP) Suresh Arora must answer as to why the investigations could not reach any conclusion in the Maur Mandi bomb blast case even after 13 months. “The people should know as to why the police were dithering in the investigating the two sensitive issues,” he added.
