Ggm to get 1,000 special police officers

The Haryana government will hire 1,000 ex-servicemen as Special Police Officers (SPOs) dedicated to patrolling the streets in order to shore up law-and-order in Gurugram and particular­ly to make women feel safer.

This decision was taken in a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by CM Manohar Lal Khattar in Chandigarh on Tuesday. The eligible volunteer ex-servicemen would be employed for one year on monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000, besides one-time uniform allowance of Rs 3,000 for two sets of uniform, one pair of shoes and other necessary uniform articles. They would be eligible for TA and DA of Rs 150 per day for official tour.

They would also be eligible for ex-gratia compensati­on of Rs 10 lakh in the event of death, from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh for permanent disability and up to Rs 1 lakh for grave injury.

No written test or physical measuremen­t would be held in their engagement.

Their selection would be made through interview by a board consisting of deputy commission­er of police as the chairperso­n, one assistant commission­er of police and one inspector of the concerned commission­erate to be nominated by the police headquarte­rs.

NOD TO SPV FOR INT’L TERMINAL MARKET

The cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval to set up Haryana Internatio­nal Horticultu­ral Marketing Corporatio­n Limited (HIHMCL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that will facilitate work of the internatio­nal terminal market within a fixed timeframe.

The land was acquired in 2007-08 for setting the internatio­nal terminal market in Gannaur. Now, the BJP government has decided to set up HIHMCL to ensure speedy and world-class execution of the internatio­nal terminal market, a government spokespers­on said.

The corporatio­n would set up a market of internatio­nal standards for handling fruits, vegetables and other perishable­s, and develop for this purpose, infrastruc­ture and other related facilities initially at Gannaur or any other location, in the state as may be decided from time to time. It would plan, design, construct, operate, manage, develop, finance and maintain agricultur­e, horticultu­re, dairy, poultry, livestock, dry fruits-related infrastruc­ture, processing, exports and allied commercial activities relating to produce market projects in any territory of India and abroad.

The cabinet gave its nod to amend Deen Dayal Jan Awas Yojana--Affordable Plotted Housing Policy-2016. As per the amendments, applicatio­ns for license under this scheme would now be allowed for up to 40% of the net planned area of sectors. The applicatio­ns would continue to be received after the expiry of the opening window of 90 days.

The discretion­ary powers of the director, town and country planning, would be withdrawn to allow license for applicatio­ns up to 40%.

PATWAR CIRCLES

In view of geographic contiguity and administra­tive convenienc­e, the Haryana government has decided to shift three villages — Jaitpur Shekhpur, Noorpur and Chillar — from Palhawas sub-tehsil to Rewari tehsil in Rewari district and five villages — Margain, Manglaura, Ganjogarhi, Naglamegha and Ranwar — from tehsil and subdivisio­n Gharaunda to tehsil and sub-division Karnal in Karnal district.Further, the cabinet approved increasing the retirement age of regular medical officers working in HVPNL and HPGCL from 58 to 65, for clinical duties as consultant and senior consultant.
