The police on Thursday ordered compulsory retirement and withdrawal of extension in service to inspector Rajinder Kumar with immediate effect while his gunman, head constable Jatinder Kumar, has been dismissed from service after their names surfaced in a drug racket.

Following reports of inaction by the inspector against a person involved in the drug trade, Gurdaspur senior superintendent of police HS Bhullar formed a three-member special investigation team (SIT) headed by SP (investigation) Harwinder Singh to look into the matter. After receiving the inquiry report, the SSP recommended stern action against both the cops.

Former station house officer of the Gurdaspur sadar police station Rajinder, was transferred to a branch of the district police office in Gurdaspur a few days ago after alleged reports that he runs a drug racket in Gurdaspur and Amritsar districts with the help of his gunman.

A Facebook post by gangsters Harry Majithia and Sukh Bhikhariwal, who are on the run, and eight others claims that the inspector had been running drug trade for the past five years.

The gangsters also claimed that Gurdaspur SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar was sheltering him, the accusation vehemently denied by the the SSP.

The post also states that 1kg of heroin was recovered from Rajinder house, but he was let off.
