ACTION TAKEN AGAINST DENTIST OF KALPANA CHAWLA GOVT MEDICAL COLLEGE AFTER VIDEO OF HIS ACT SURFACED ON SOCIAL MEDIA

KARNAL: A doctor of the Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital (KCGMCH) was terminated after a video showing him operating a patient at a private clinic surfaced on the social media.

The act of Dr Mannu, a junior resident posted in dentistry department of KCGMCH, was captured on camera by relatives of a patient, Sabir Ali.

They also made an audio clip in which the doctor was allegedly heard talking to a receptionist of a private hospital and asking him to admit the patient under a package of Rs 16,000.

The patient alleged that he went to the doctor in the KCGMCH, but the doctor asked him to go to the private hospital for “complete treatment”.

KCGMCH director Dr Surender Kashyap said, “The doctor has been terminated with immediate effect and an inquiry has been ordered into the matter.” He said the junior resident was appointed for a contract of six months. Dr Mannu was not available for his comments.

Meanwhile, a team of healtofficials from the state health department came here from Chandigarh on Thursday and conducted surprise raids at chemist shops.

They found a dental clinic running in a chemist shop without permission.
