NOW, 30YROLD DIES ‘AS HE DID NOT GET DRUGS’

AMRITSAR/JALANDHAR:A 30-year-old man named Kulwinder Singh, an electricia­n, died at Patti in Tarn Taran district after he “did not get his fix of drugs”, his family said.

“He had been abusing tablets and capsules for years,” said his wife, Manpreet Kaur. His mother Parkash Kaur said, “For the last few days he was unable to get the drugs, due to which his condition deteriorat­ed. Around 8am on Saturday, he died.”

SHO Rajesh Kakkar averred on the reason of death. He said the kin filed no complaint. Kulwinder is survived by his wife and two sons, aged 3 and 2.

2 ‘OVERDOSE’ DEATHS

In Amritsar, Jatinder Singh, 30, died at Kaler Ghuman village of suspected drug overdose, police said. SSP Parampal Singh said an FIR has been registered under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and under the NDPS Act, on the statement of Ninder Kaur, mother of the deceased, against Avtar Singh, Simran Singh, Raminder Singh, Amandeep Singh, all of the same village.

“He used to buy drugs from Amandeep and Chamkaur. The role of Simran , Avtar and Raminder is being verified as they don’t take drugs,” he added.

A 23-year-old drug addict, Ricky Kumar, reportedly died here on the intervenin­g night of Friday and Saturday in Jalandhar. He had got married three month ago. SHO Sukhbir Singh said Ricky had been reportedly taking drugs for years and was undergoing treatment since June 26. The SHO said the family members told that Ricky had quit drugs recently after he got hepatitis C due to drugs.

He said no case has been registered as the family members have not recorded any statement in the case.
