2 bikers killed in Karnal mishap

KARNAL: Two motorcycle-borne youths were killed when a truck hit their bike on the Indri-Karnal road near Labkari village of Karnal district on late Saturday night.

The deceased have been identified as Vikas Kumar, 21, and Ravinder, 22, residents of Chandraon village of the district.

Police said the victims were returning from Karnal on a bike when a place when a speeding truck hit their motorcycle. Both of them died on the spot.

Investigat­ion officer Subhash Chand said in the preliminar­y investigat­ion the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the families after the postmortem.

He said an FIR has been registered against unknown truck driver under Section 304 A of the IPC and efforts are was on to arrest him.

LUDHIANA MAN DIES AS CANTER HITS CAR

In another incident, a man was killed and three people, including a child and a woman, were injured as a canter hit a car near Salaru village of Karnal on the Yamunanaga­r-Karnal road on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Bhupinder Singh (35) of Ludhiana. His wife, a son and a daughter were injured and admitted to the Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital with serious injuries.

Pankaj, an eyewitness, said the accident took place when a speeding canter hit the car. The accident was so forceful that the car was damaged badly and its parts were scattered on the road.

Investigat­ion officer Jagbir Singh said the driver of the canter managed to flee the spot after the accident and an FIR under Section 304 A of IPC was registered against him.

The accident took place as the widening of the road was under way.
