STF team pelted with stones, three cops injured

LUDHIANA : Three members of police’s special task force (STF) were injured after some miscreants pelted them with stones near Samrala Chowk on Wednesday evening after they went there to check some suspicious activities.

The injured cops were identified as assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sukhdev Singh, constable Davinderpa­l Singh and constable Manvir Singh. In the fracas, the miscreants also tore the uniform of head constable Makhan Singh, the police said. The injured cops were admitted to the civil hospital.

A case was registered against Kulvinder Singh, Parmjit Singh, Dalbir Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Savan Singh under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructin­g public servant in discharge of public functions) and 332 (voluntaril­y causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
