LYNCH MOBS: AMEND EXISTING LAWS

-

The HT editorial ‘No need for an anti-lynching law’ (HT, July 10) aptly says that the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has enough provisions to deal with incidents of lynching. The increase in such episodes is partly due to the open support to lynch squads by political parties and partly due to the presence of a weak police administration. The silence of the Prime Minister on the matter is fuelling the lynch squads to act without any fear. Vitull K Gupta, Bathinda
