BJP MP Saini firm on holding rally in Karnal village, admn in a fix

-

KARNAL: Even as members of the Jat community are opposing BJP MP Raj Kumar Saini’s proposed rally in Ballah village of Karnal district on July 15, Saini on Thursday asserted that he will hold the scheduled event at any cost, putting the district administration in a fix.

Saini, in a statement issued from his Kurukshetra office, said, “Nobody can stop him from visiting Ballah village and holding a public rally.”

“Haryana is not a property of a particular community and they cannot stop anybody, especially an elected representative, from entering any village,” he added.

Saini also accused the BJP government in Haryana of “turning a blind eye to this serious issue while working under pressure”.

He said the government would be responsible if any untoward incident took place during his visit to village.

A section of residents of the Jat-dominated Ballah village have already announced that they will not allow Saini to address a gathering in their village, alleging that the MP’s visit could damage the peace and social harmony in the village.

The villagers on Wednesday held a meeting with the organisers of Saini’s event in the village, persuading them to cancel the proposed function.

Meanwhile, the district administration and the officials concerned are holding meetings with the people of both groups to find out a solution. “We have some sensitive inputs in this regard.

The administration and police are trying to negotiate with the people of both sides to resolve the issue”, Karnal deputy commissioner Aditya Dahiya told Hindustan Times.

Haryana is not a property of a particular community and they cannot stop anybody, especially an elected representative, from entering any village.
