Dentist sexually assaults minor at clinic
ROHTAK: An 11-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a doctor when she visited a dental hospital near Sunariya Chowk in Rohtak on Tuesday evening, the police said. The victim was accompanied by her grandfather to Rathee Dental Hospital for extraction of her wisdom tooth.
“After extracting her tooth, the doctor sent me outside to get an ice pack. He said it was important to apply the ice pack now and said they had run out of it. When I left the clinic, there was no one there except my granddaughter and the doctor,” the grandfather of the victim said.
“When I returned after some time, I found my granddaughter looking very scared, but she did not say anything then. So I paid the doctor and left,” he said.
He said that on their way back home, his granddaughter started crying in pain. When he asked her the reason, she described that the doctor sexually assaulted her when they were alone at the clinic. She said the doctor also threatened her not to tell anyone about it.
The grandfather immediately called the women helpline and informed other family members, who along with the police, reached the hospital, but it had closed by then.
Based on the complaint, the police have booked Dr Ajit under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, and Sections 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Shivaji Colony police station station house officer (SHO) Rajender Singh said the accused doctor found out about the case and is absconding.
He said the medical examination of the victim was conducted and its report is awaited.
