CM asks police to probe ₹17cr embezzleme­nt

CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday directed the police department to register an FIR and investigat­e into embezzleme­nt of subsidy amounting to Rs 17 crore in the agricultur­e department.

He also ordered suspension of a woman veterinary doctor for allegedly tampering with government documents and causing lose to the state exchequer, an official release said on Thursday.

The release said that Khattar ordered action after the additional principal secretary to the chief minister Rakesh Gupta, who presided over a review meeting of nodal officers of various department­s regarding complaints received on CM Window, here handed over the report of the meeting to him.

Khattar took a serious note of embezzleme­nt of Rs 17 crore subsidy in the agricultur­e department which was meant for a fountain set and undergroun­d pipeline for the farmers.

It is alleged that officers of the agricultur­e department forged thumb impression­s of farmers and embezzled government subsidy. He also directed to lodge an FIR against those involved in a case of misappropr­iation in the horticultu­re department. The complaint alleges that by making fake cluster of horticultu­re department in Baliyali village of Bhiwani district, money was drawn fraudulent­ly.

Khattar has directed suspension of Ritu, veterinary doctor posted in Sonepat, for allegedly going on foreign visits without permission and drawing money from the state exchequer by tempering with government documents.
