CHANDIGARH: Haryana minister of state for social justice and empowerment Krishan Kumar Bedi on Thursday said the opposition Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) will be fighting the last battle of its existence in 2019 assembly elctions.

Reacting to Abhay’s statement in which he alleged that drug peddling flourished with the administration’s collaboration in state, Bedi alleged that Abhay grumbled as even his own family members refused to trust him. Bedi said the INLD must prove his claim, failing which the government would drag him to the court.

On the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal issue, he said the INLD had gone to dig the canal, but was not able to attract even 2,500 people. “Abhay Chautala had also said that plying of vehicles from Punjab to Haryana should not be allowed but hardly anybody supported him. His every programme goes haywire and his own party people are leaving the INLD today,” he added.

Responding to a question on the statement made by the former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda that if voted to power, the Congress would halve the power bills, Bedi said time is running against Hooda. The Congress leadership at the Centre is not ready to give him any responsibility and Hooda is in a dilemma whether to stay put in the Congress or form a separate party, he added.
