11 gangsters linked to Bambiha group arrested

The Organised Crime Control Unit (OCCU) of the intelligen­ce wing of the Punjab Police busted a gang linked to the Devinder Bambiha group with the arrest of 11 men. The OCCU team launched a special operation across the state in which police from eight districts was involved. Two of the 11 arrested men are on the police list of most-wanted. Seventeen weapons have been recovered from the gangsters. This includes nine pistols, five revolvers, one rifle, two guns and three China-made pistols.

OCCU inspector general of police Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh told a press conference, “The two dreaded gangsters arrested are Aman Kumar, aka, Amna Jaito and Yadwinder Singh, aka, Yaddu Jaito. Both were wanted for the brutal murder of Hardev Singh, aka, Gogi Jatana at the poultry farm of the latter in Rampura Phul on June 17, 2018. An FIR is registered.”

The IGP added that notorious gangster Sukhpreet Singh, aka, Budha of Moga and his accomplice Gurbax Singh Sevawala, of Faridkot, had ordered the murder. Sukhpreet (Budha), who is still at large, had taken credit for the murder on his Facebook page and also for his alleged involvemen­t in the shoot-out that resulted in the death of another gangster, Davinder Shooter in September 2016.

Police say that Veena Buttar, aka, Varinderpa­l Singh, of Moga, also arrested on Monday, provided weapons to Aman Jaito.

“The other arrested gangmember­s include Bittu Mehal Kalan, aka, Arshdeep Singh of Barnala, who faces 34 cases of robbery, dacoity, carjacking. The remaining members of this gang are Rajat Kumar, aka, Safi of Faridkot, Karan Mangla of Barnala, Sukha, aka, Vicky of Faridkot, Palwinder Singh, aka, Likhri of Moga, Sumit Bajaj, aka, Landi of Faridkot, Alam Bhattal, aka, Kranti of Barnala and Lakhwinder Singh of Faridkot.”

These men are involved in 60-65 cases of murder, attempt to murder, ransom, snatching of vehicles, smuggling of narcotics, dealing in illegal weapons and armed robberies and thefts across Punjab and Haryana.

THREE SUVS RECOVERED

In addition to the weapons, two Scorpios and a Hyundai Creta have been recovered from these gangsters.

Preliminar­y investigat­ion shows that the Creta car was snatched from Kurukshetr­a and used in the attack on Punjabi singer Parmish Verma in April 2018 by Dilpreet, Babba, and Sukhpreet, aka Budha, he added. “There are clear leads that Dilpreet was in close touch with this gang,” the IG added.
