Tanzanian national among two held with 570gm heroin

Two people including a Tanzanian national have been arrested with 570 gm of heroin, here on Saturday. The kingpin Sohan Lal alias Kala of Thandia village has been lodged in the Kapurthala jail for past one year in a drug case and has been running a drug racket, said police.

Accused are Amit Kumar alias Kaka of Mohalla Karar Khan in Jalandhar and Shufaa Haruna of Tanzania, who at present is residing at Gurudwara Road, Nawada Mohan Garden, near Uttam Nagar, Delhi.

SSP Navjot Singh Mahal during a press conference said a special team led by SHO Maqsudan, Ramandeep Singh and police officials nabbed the duo and made the recovery. Mahal said SHO along with the police team during a naka in Bidhipur, arrested Kaka with 20gm heroin, who revealed that he bought the consignmen­t from Shufaa Haruna from Delhi, following which, raid was conducted in Delhi and Haryana and nabbed Haruna from Murthal with 550 gm of heroin.

He said, Tanzanian national confessed that she was residing in Delhi for past one year and has been peddling drugs. She came in contact with Amit through a gang leader, Sohan Lal. A case under relevant sections of NDPS has been registered.
