Responding to a threat issued by All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) president Yashpal Malik of opposing his and finance minister Capt Abhimanyu’s programmes from August 16, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said nobody will be allowed to spoil the brotherhood in the state.

“Nobody stop anyone from going anywhere, but his (Yashpal) remark will be taken seriously,” the chief minister said on Monday during a function organised by the finance department and banks in Karnal, which was also attended by Capt Abhimanyu.

He said as polls draw closer, such people get active but they will not be able to spoil the brotherhood as the law will take its own course.

‘GANG OF THUGS ACTIVE IN HRY’

Capt Abhimanyu, without naming anyone, said a “gang of thugs” was active in Haryana and working to divide people to fulfil its motives.

“Criticism by such thugs strengthens our belief that we are on the right track,” the Haryana finance minister said during an interaction with mediapersons.

In a veiled attack, Capt Abhimanyu said, “Some people, who ruled Haryana for 10 years, are now working like gang leaders. They cannot even tolerate a Dalit being their party’s state president.”

Accusing Yashpal Malik of dividing people on the basis of caste and earning crores from donations, the finance minister said, “He (Yashpal) is misleading the people of Haryana and using the money received through donations for his personal interests. Such people cannot discourage us.”

When asked if Yashpal was using a pressure tactic to make him (Capt Abhimanyu) withdraw the CBI cases against him ahead of the elections, the Haryana finance minister said, “He cannot force me to do anything.”

On why the BJP was not taking any action against its Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini, the finance minister said, “Anybody who tries to damage the social fabric, whether he is Raj Kumar Saini or Yashpal Malik, will face the consequences for his anti-social activities.”
