The Bhiwani police claimed to have arrested three persons for the murder of a 19-year-old girl, here on Friday. The arrested accused include the victim’s father, Sher Singh and brother Bintu and a cousin Sanjay.

The teenager was allegedly gangraped by three men on August 16, and had later committed suicide blaming police of inaction in her suicide note.

In the note, the victim had accused the Sadar police station SHO and a DSP of inaction. Superintendent of police (SP), Ganga Ram Punia, said, “We investigated the role of both the police officials, however, they had taken action in time soon after they received the complaint.”

“Further investigation into the matter revealed that her father, brother and the cousin — all the residents of Bamla village — compelled and thrashed the victim into writing the suicide note,” Punia said.

“On the same night, August 26, the trio killed her and made it look like a suicide. The accused have been arrested. The family killed the girl due to social stigma,” Punia added.

Soon after the victim’s death, the family members had also refused to accept her body, he said. They had demanded the arrest of the SHO and DSP, he said.
